World Cup Odds – The Long Tail
I’m quite disappointed to see that only one bookmaker has made it into the top 10 Google positions for any of my 5 long-tail, world cup betting phrases:

I suppose it’s a *well done* to Paddy Power for getting at least some visibility in amongst the affiliates. I’m surprised by this. PPC costs for generic keywords such as football betting and world cup – which are being bid upon by the big boys – must be expensive, yet no-one has thought ahead and used the strength of their domains to rank some internal, content-heavy pages.
I’ve seen analysis where operators and their SEO agencies complain about the relatively short-tail of gambling keywords, but surely the same cannot be said about football betting around world-cup time. You can bet on anything you like, and as punters are becoming more savvy in this respect, I’d expect the long tail to grow futher.
Oh, and a hat-tip to oddschecker.com, who rank well for most of my long-tail searches. Well done chaps.
